i dont really know how to google this so how would a single woman keep herself safe in an apartment if she is scared and paranoid lol, beside putting in an alarm system which the apartment probably wont let and having a gun? like what could she put up to let her know when there is an intruder or wake her up during the night?

I need a cost effective burglar alarm system. I rent so I need something I can take with me when I leave. Do I need a monitoring service? Can you have a wireless system with no phone line? Is it better to buy a DIY system online and then purchase monitoring separately?
This is a short clip of me arming and dis-arming my burglar alarm system at home. I had a DSC Power 832 system in my home with motions and all windows/doors secured, but I came across this alarm system when a customer upgraded. I decided to put this system in because its cool and I think more reliable than the newer systems… It operates with a few relays inside. I never have to worry about lightning damage. I do have a fire alarm system installed in the house that is an Ademco 5140 XM. Will have videos of that later!
