Alarm system, Q's…?

I’ve been considering buying an alarm system, but i would like some answers to my questions:
-If someone breaks my basement window, braeks it (not open it), and turn off the power in my house, what will happen? (will the alarm go off, will it send some signal to the alarm company, etc)
-Through where is the sneakiest place the burglar could come in, so, where should i put what ? (sensoer, heat detectors, etc)

My husband would like to get a gun safe for the shotgun that we keep in our bedroom, but most of the safes on the market are huge and heavy and right away they hold 6, 8, 20 guns. All he needs is a narrow, 1′ wide safe that can accomodate a single shotgun, some ammo, and maybe a pistol. Ideally something with both a standard lock and a biometric fast-access lock or fast digital pin number entry.

Just 1′ wide so it can easily fit into a closet without gobbling up all the space.

He wants a safe so it’s ready to go if needed. Neither of us is comfortable with keeping it loaded and unsecured. There are no kids in the house, but it’s still our NRA safety training kicking in.

And FYI, the couple of times we’d had false alarms, we always call out and make sure "they" know we have a shotgun and are prepared to use it, hoping any intruder will just leave. It’s not like we start firing all over the place without warning! The safety’s still on almost all of the time.

Are home security systems really effective?

We are having a home security system installed tomorrow…I’m wondering if they are really effective? Do they really deter burglars? Should I feel 100% safe when I go to bed with my alarm on?

Everytime afternoon when I try to close my garage door, it goes down a little and then goes back up. I think this is due to the fact that the sun is shining directly into one of the two sensors near the ground on the sides of the garage door. Our house is positioned is the most stupid way that the sun will shine into the sensor from noon until 6pm.

We’ve tried holding down the remote button on the garage door opener and even using the wireless keypad outside of the garage, but the stupid thing won’t shut all the way down. The only way we can get it to shut down is to drive our car out of the garage, go back into the garage and manually hold down the garage door closer to bypass the sun shining into the sensor. Then we have to reinput the alarm to our house and then hurry out of the front door which wastes a lot of time.

This is so annoying and frustrating. Does anyone have any other solutions aside from the Hulk coming to pick up our house and repositioning it to face a different way

Okay, I live in kind of a poor, somewhat bad area, and bikes are one of the biggest things stolen here.
I keep my bike in my house, in my bedroom, near my bed.
And I have at least one bike lock for it that locks the wheels so no one can just hop on and ride off with it.
But recently I heard someone say how some people just got a truck while they were in the local store, and they got it and picked the bike up and just threw it in the back of the truck.
idk if that’s true or not but that’s scary.

My bike is well over 00, really fancy, good target for thieves.
I plan on getting a bike alarm that will go off by motion sensor and a chain/rope lock so I can attach it to a building while I go into the store on top of my normal bike lock that locks the wheels.

Well first off what’s the likely hood of someone getting bolt cutters and cutting the locks in a bad area?
And what is one of the BEST bike chain locks I can use to attach it to a building?
I want something you can’t just get bolt cutters and easily cut through.
I need something really really think like reinforced steel or something.
Also
Does anyone know of any good bike alarm systems?
Really loud and preferably with wireless key?
Like the type you use for your car alarm?

And also,
Should I invest in a GPS locater?
Just in case they get through all that I can still track it?
If so, what would be a good one for a bike?

I want to lock my bike up like it’s a pile of gold.
If I could I would put land-mines, barbed wire, and everything else around it.
I hate thieves so much!
I wish I could park it in a lot, get a sniper rifle and go at a distance and wait for someone to try to steal it so I could make their heads explode, I wonder how many times they would try before they get the point?

My old bike was stolen a long time ago, and the police didn’t seem to care or take it seriously. All they said was we’ll keep a look out for it, and I never got it back.
Luckily that bike was only a few hundred dollars.

I might sound a bit paranoid but other than the fact that it’s happened before, i’ve rode my bike through town a few times and some people were eying/staring it like it was the most hot rich woman they have ever seen. Probably about to drool or something.
I may be exaggerating but I can tell this is one bike they would love to steal.

How do you disable the alarm system on a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
This is the factory alarm. It just turned on and no matter what I do I cant get it to turn off. If I disconnect the battery it stops for the moment but as soon as I reconnect the battery itstarts again. I took the fuse for the horn out so it at least stopped honking but the lights are flashing and it will only run for a few seconds before the engine dies.

The installation of Smoke Cloak in Jewellers shops offers real-time protection against burglars. The Smoke Cloak system can be linked into existing alarm systems and can also be activated by the use of the ‘panic button’. Activating the smoke security system will fill the shop with dense smoke and render visibility of goods impossible. Mint Services are a recognised & approved NSI installer of burglar alarm and CCTV systems. For more information visit www.mint-services.com or call us on 01623 858 988

I hear that while travelling in trains, luggage has to be strapped to the overhead bin and while staying in hotels, to the bedframe in the hotel room, to keep it safe from snatch-and-run thieves. Also someone suggested travelling with a high tech door alarm, or else leaning a chair with few noisy items on it against the inside of the door so it will tip over and crash when an unwanted intruder slips in at night.

Is it really this bad…its so scary !! I might have to keep an eye on my things all the time instead of enjoying what good Italy has to offer.

Also, more importantly, is there mugging? Especially near the main railway stations? Is it dangerous to be going around the railway stations area after sunset? How safe is it to stay in hotels near railway stations. for e.g. near the Termini station in Rome?

What does a tourist do if things are stolen/ pickpocketed? Do police help?
